Quick answer
DocuDrive sells one device: the PT-40 ELD + GPS for $149 one time, with free shipping, and it is yours to keep. If you already own a Pacific Track PT-30 or PT-40, you can move it to DocuDrive with no hardware cost. Either way, service is $20 per truck per month with a 14-day free trial, and GPS tracking is included.
The device we sell: PT-40 ELD + GPS
The PT-40 plugs into the truck's diagnostic port and records engine data for your hours of service logs. It also carries its own GPS and its own LTE cellular connection, so the truck reports its location even when the driver's phone is dead or left at home. That matters to the office, to brokers tracking a load, and to your IFTA mileage.
- Price: $149 one time, free shipping.
- Ownership: yours to keep. Nothing to return if you cancel.
- Fits: heavy-duty trucks with 9-pin or 6-pin ports, and light-duty vehicles with a standard OBD-II port (cargo vans, box trucks, pickups).
- Adapters: cables for Volvo, Mack, and Peterbilt are available.
Full specs and who it fits are on the PT-40 ELD + GPS page. Plugging it in takes a few minutes; the installation guide walks through it.
Bring your own PT-30 or PT-40
If your truck already has a Pacific Track PT-30 or PT-40 from another provider, keep it. You sign up for the same $20 plan, we move the device to DocuDrive, and you keep driving. No hardware purchase. See Bring Your Own ELD for how the switch works.
One thing to know before you keep a PT-30: it has no GPS of its own. It uses the driver's phone for location. If you want the truck itself to report where it is, you can upgrade to a PT-40 for $149. The PT-30 vs PT-40 comparison lays out the difference.
What to check before you order
Three quick checks save a second shipment.
- Your diagnostic port. Look under the dash on the driver side. A 16-pin trapezoid plug is OBD-II. A round connector with 9 or 6 pins is a heavy-duty port. Some Volvo, Mack, and Peterbilt trucks need an adapter cable. OBD-II vs 9-pin ports shows how to tell them apart.
- Your vehicle and year. Have the make, model, and year ready when you order or call, especially for Volvo, Mack, and Peterbilt.
- Whether you need an ELD at all. Some operations can use paper logs instead, including drivers who need logs on no more than 8 days in any 30-day period and vehicles manufactured before model year 2000 (49 CFR 395.8(a)(1)(ii)). Drivers who qualify for the short-haul exception in 395.1(e) do not keep logs at all. Check ELD exemptions before you buy.
How to start
Order a PT-40 or sign up with your own device at /buy/. If you buy a PT-40, the $149 is charged at checkout so the device can ship, and the 14-day service trial runs alongside. The $20 monthly fee starts on day 15. Details are on the free trial page and the pricing page.
