DocuDrive vs Motive
Motive, formerly KeepTruckin, built its name on ELDs for trucking. Today it prices by quote and signs term contracts. Here is how that compares with a published, month-to-month ELD.
Side by side
| Feature | DocuDrive Basic | Motive |
|---|---|---|
| Published pricing | ELD $20/mo with 14 days free, GPS $8/mo, on the site | No, quoted by sales |
| Contract length | Month-to-month | Set in your order form |
| Auto-renewal | None, month-to-month | Yes, 12 months at a time unless you give 30 days’ written notice |
| Leaving early | Cancel anytime, no fee | Balance of the remaining term is due |
| ELD hardware | Bring a PT-30 or PT-40, or buy a PT-40 for $149 and keep it | Motive Vehicle Gateway |
| FMCSA-registered ELD | ✓ | ✓ |
Motive terms are taken from its own published documents and FMCSA’s registered-ELD list, checked September 29, 2026. Your own order form governs your contract; terms change, so confirm current terms with each provider. Motive is a trademark of its owner.
Where Motive is strong
- A long track record in trucking ELDs.
- AI dash cameras alongside the ELD.
- Driver app runs on the driver’s own phone or tablet.
If you want a camera-led safety platform and are comfortable with a term contract, Motive is a real option. If you want ELD at a known $20 a truck with no term to wait out, DocuDrive is built for that.
Switching from Motive
- Find the end date and renewal terms in your Motive order form. Motive renews for 12 months at a time unless you give 30 days’ written notice before the term ends.
- Send your non-renewal notice in writing, inside that window.
- Start your 14-day DocuDrive trial before your end date. Already on a Pacific Track PT-30 or PT-40? Bring it. Otherwise the PT-40 is $149 with free shipping, and it is yours to keep.
