Quick answer
DocuDrive's service is free for 14 days. If you need a PT-40, you pay $149 at checkout so it can ship, and you keep it. If you bring your own PT-30 or PT-40, you pay $0 today. The $20 per truck per month starts on day 15. Cancel inside the trial from the billing portal or by calling (720) 362-3783, and you pay no service fee.
What you pay today
| Your situation | Due at checkout | From day 15 |
|---|---|---|
| You need a PT-40 | $149 one time per device, free shipping | $20 per truck per month |
| You already own a PT-30 or PT-40 | $0 | $20 per truck per month |
The $149 is charged at checkout because the device has to ship before you can use it. The service trial runs alongside. A card is collected at signup for both paths.
What to have ready at signup
- Your company name and USDOT number. Every ELD record carries the motor carrier's identification, so the account needs it from day one. Still getting your number? See USDOT number.
- Each truck's make, model, and year. This tells us whether a Volvo, Mack, or Peterbilt adapter cable is needed for a PT-40.
- Your drivers' names and contact details, so each one gets a login.
- The model of any device you are bringing, a PT-30 or PT-40.
- A card for checkout.
What the trial includes
The trial is the full service, the same one you pay for after day 15:
- Hours of service logs and the driver app
- DVIR
- IFTA mileage reports
- Roadside Inspection Mode, with logs sent by DocuDrive's registered telematic method
- Real-time GPS tracking and the web portal for the office
- Highway and Trucker Tools connections
- U.S.-based support at (720) 362-3783
How to get the most out of 14 days
Since the trial runs while your device ships, install it the day it arrives. The installation guide takes a few minutes. Then use the time on the things that matter in your operation:
- Run real loads with the app and see whether logging fits how your drivers work.
- Practice Inspection Mode in the yard so the first roadside transfer is not the first time.
- Connect a broker platform, if you use one, and watch your truck on a live load. See Highway ELD.
- Have the office check the web portal map during the day.
- Pull an IFTA mileage report at the end of the trial to see how it reads.
When billing starts
On day 15, the plan bills at $20 per truck per month. It is month-to-month with no contract, and you can cancel anytime. If you add trucks later, you add them from the billing portal. Fleets of 5 or more trucks can also contact sales for volume pricing. Pricing detail is on the pricing page, and how no-contract billing works is on No-Contract ELD.
How to cancel inside the trial
- Save your records first. See the next section.
- Cancel from the billing portal, or call (720) 362-3783.
- Keep the device. If you bought a PT-40, it is yours. There is nothing to ship back.
Cancel before day 15 and you pay no service fee. The $149 device charge is for hardware you keep.
What happens to your logs
Your hours of service records are your compliance records, and the duty to keep them stays with you after you leave any ELD provider. Under 49 CFR 395.8(k), a motor carrier must keep records of duty status and supporting documents for each driver for at least 6 months. The ELD rule also requires the carrier to keep a backup copy of ELD records for 6 months on a device separate from the one holding the originals (49 CFR 395.22(i)).
Before you cancel, save copies of your logs and supporting documents somewhere you control. If you are not sure how to pull what you need, call (720) 362-3783 before you cancel. If you are moving to another ELD, plan the cutover so there is no day without logs; Switch ELD Providers walks through it.
If you keep going after day 15
Nothing changes on your end. The trucks keep logging, the office keeps the portal, and the card on file is billed $20 per truck per month. You add trucks later from the billing portal, and if you added a truck that needs hardware, you order another PT-40 for $149. If you outgrow a handful of trucks, fleets of 5 or more can talk to sales about volume pricing at sales@docudriveapp.com.
Start the trial
Go to /buy/. Choose a PT-40 if you need hardware, or bring your own PT-30 or PT-40. Not sure which? PT-30 vs PT-40 explains the difference, and ELD hardware covers what to check before you order.
